New York City’s Mayor Bloomburg is looking to propose a ban on sales of soft drinks larger than 16 oz. The Mayor thinks this measure will help fight America’s obesity epidemic. This size limit would not apply to diet sodas, fruit juices, or alcoholic beverages.
The ban would not actually restrict how much soda a person could drink, so it seems all this would do is make life annoying for soda drinkers. Should the City of New York really have the power to tell a person how much soda they can buy? America may be the land of the free, but Mayor Bloomberg doesn’t seem to think so.
