This week I have finally picked the final addition to the round up, so we are finally up to speed. There are a couple shows I passed on this season simply because I know waiting for the BD versions is a better choice (I’m looking at you, studio Shaft). A few other shows I passed on because they just could not draw me, and there are a couple others that I may pick up after they conclude. At the very least, I would say the selections for this season are fairly well rounded, since there is something to read about for virtually any kind of anime fan.
The elections are in full swing, and the girls are each trying to deal with the nervousness this event brings. As everyone prepares for the election concertChieri discovers her father’s corporation has used her image for a new ad campaign; without her permission. As Chieri continues to investigate the situation it begins to seem there is more trouble coming her way from her father and the Zodiac Corporation.
Rika has decided the time has come to introduce the neighbor’s club to her favorite BL (boy’s love) anime in hopes of having some fellow comrades among her peers. Yozora now has a newfound love of yaoi anime, and uses this as an opportunity to troll Sena for her love of eroge games. Meanwhile, Kodaka has an encounter with Maria’s older sister.
As per this show’s formula, it is time for some fun now that the serious stuff is out of the way for now. This time the buster girls have planned a trap for Riki: they have lured him into a slumber party in their dorm, and his only escape would mean facing the wrath of the brutal disciplinary committee. With no way out, Riki must tea parties, bath time, cross-dressing, and pajama swordplay; while in constant danger of gaining the attention of the disciplinary committee patrols. Will Riki survive every teenage boy’s dream come true?
Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru: Episode 1-3
(My Girlfriend and my Childhood Friend Fight Too Much) AKA: Oreshura
This show was my pick for the tenth addition to the weekly round-up, and I thought this would be fun addition to the mix. Three episodes have already aired, so for the sake of brevity we will jump right into the currently airing episode. This is about a student named Eita that is striving to make it into med school with a scholarship, and he sees romance and love as the greatest obstacle to achieving his goal. Eita is disgusted by the concept of love, especially since his parents are going through a divorce from cheating on one another, so he seeks to avoid these feelings entirely. Eita’s path to success is thrown into chaos when the most popular girl in school forces him to “pretend” to be his girlfriend; while he also fends off the advances of his endeared childhood friend, Chiwa. This show provides lots of laughs from the teasing of Eita’s “fake” girlfriend, Masuzu, especially when she uses Eita’s diary full of childhood fantasies against him.
We have finally caught up to current events, and it seems that poor Akane’s experience with the Dominator ignoring her pleas is not an isolated incident. Aside from some shady business sweeping the fallacies of the Sybil system under the rug; Akane is hell-bent on avenging her friend, and she is willing to risk the clarity of her Psycho Pass to bring in her killer. Is Akane tough enough to endure reliving her most brutal memories to bring her friend’s murderer to justice, or will she end up being forced by the Sybil system to become an enforcer like her subordinates? Watch and see my friends…
Kaito continues his pursuit of the hidden reports, only to find that the hidden, final episode of Gunvarrel may have been a warning to the world about a conspiracy to fry mankind with solar flares. In the meantime, the robotics club has finally decided to find a way to put the mysterious monopole stone to use in making motors for their new giant robot. When a solar disaster ravages part of Japan and causes robots to go berserk, the conspiracy comes to light in the worst way possible… This show is getting really awesome here, folks.
The (mis)adventures of teenage high-school ninja girls continue, as the girls train to summon their mystical beasts. When it is revealed that Asuka is afraid of her own mystic beast, everyone tries to help her overcome her fears in the sexiest way possible. Always remember, frogs are lewd. Oh, and I guess the “evil” busty ninja girls are plotting something.
Saki continues on her assignment to hunt down the runaways from her village, but her thoughts about the situation shroud her loyalties in doubt. Between the brutal policies of her own people and the greedy ambitions of Squeeler, Saki can’t quite trust everyone she has been listening to. Will Saki complete the task she has been assigned or go rouge like her dear friends?
Vividred Operation has already begun to fire up anime fans around the world, with some already making claims this could be a 2013 anime of the year contender. This week’s episode of magical girl Ironman is packed with a crazy combination of awesome action, comedy, and fanservice. High-tech magical girls fighting in tandem with advanced fighter jets and naval battleships is more fun that it should be, in a way that only anime can make into pure awesomeness. Even if you have some misgivings about the fanservice, this show is insanely fun, and worth checking out.
Both the tree of Genesis and the tree of Exodus have begun to grow, but the coming of the tree of Genesis has changed the world. The tree of Genesis has created a world where all wars and social conflict result only in disappearance, for better or worse. This still leaves Mahiro looking for the murderer of his girlfriend, suspected to be the “mage of exodus”. When a young man claiming to be the mage of exodus comes forward, will he prove to be the vicious killer of a young lady, or an innocent person caught in the maze of deceit?
