Noboru Yamaguchi, the author of light novels such as Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) and Green Green, passed away on April 4th, according to MF Bunko J’s Editor-in-Chief. Yamaguchi has been fighting cancer for two years, and has passed away at the age of 41. Yamaguchi began his writing career in the game industry, and then started writing novels in 2000.
In 2004 Yamaguchi published Zero no Tsukaima, a light novel series that was adapted into a popular anime series that ran for four seasons. While the anime series concluded with the fourth season, the light novel series was still ongoing, and Yamaguchi had planned to finish it this year. Truly this is a tragic loss for his family, friends, and fans around the world.
