The anime industry has been in a bit of stir this week; since some of Japan’s major political parties have been cooking up a poorly-worded bill that could potentially have all anime, manga, and video games labeled as “child pornography,” because getting rid of fun is much easier than actually dealing with Japan’s real problems. I’m not going to get into detail about it because it has been heavily covered elsewhere, but the good news is it isn’t likely to pass. We can all complain about freedom and whatnot, but in the end it is Japan’s problem, and here in America we are too busy celebrating our rights to be hunted down by drones while eating unlabeled genetically modified foods. Let’s all just hope the Japanese government doesn’t destroy a wave of entertainment industries because of a few panty shots from high school girls that don’t exist. In the meantime, we can still enjoy this amazing week of anime. Things are getting too spoiler-iffic for some shows to go into deep discussion, so forgive the brevity of this week’s article… and go watch some anime!
The head of the mysterious organization, GOSSIP, isn’t thrilled with Rulebook’s on stage performance, and makes it very clear. The end of this episode has a very shocking, very steamy scene between Kiri and Iwai. This scene was very brief, but its intensity is what makes it worth mentioning, because it is probably one of the most noteworthy scenes of its kind in anime. Trust me; you will know when you see it.
Shido finds out he may have gotten in over his head dealing with Kurumi. This show has made a transformation from being quirky, fun, and a little strange to being purely fucking awesome with a quick sweep of events. If you left this show behind earlier in the season, I strongly advise giving it a second chance! Lots of spoiler-y stuff happened, so I’m leaving out the details.
Izuru’s dogfight allowed him to be one of the first troops to ever see what the Wulgaru really look like, and of course, that happens to be classified information. In the meantime, the remnants of mankind’s forces are regrouping after a brutal defeat in the Battle of Ceres. This episode ends with some answers to big questions, while bringing up some even bigger questions…
Shanta is feeling a little down, so for some reason this results in Kuuko feeding her a pill that transforms her into a loli, because that solves everything. This situation ends up in a chase through Akihabara and quarrels over who gets dibs on limited edition manga. There will be sanity-draining hilarity for all to enjoy.
Sadao is struggling to understand why so many people are drawn to the fried chicken joint next door, (that resembles a certain Colonel’s fried chicken chain) so he sends out his roommate to spy on the “enemy.” The tone of the show steps back from the more fantasy heavy stuff and returns to more of its trademark “real world” humor, for a pleasant change of pace. Prepare for creepy chicken vendors and wild tales of fallen construction companies.
While Youto is puzzled by Azusa suddenly avoiding him, a mysterious little girl shows up claiming to be an old friend of Youto. Things get even weirder when this girl begins to flaunt a seemingly omnipotent power to change reality thanks to a pocket-sized stone cat. This somehow causes Youto to become the prince of a school/kingdom full of girls in swimsuits. Awesome.
Hattori and Gotou are hoping to get the courage to become master samurai before the upcoming fight. Of course this means they will practice this by attempting to make out with each other. In the meantime, it seems there is some genuine evil and maybe even a bit more of an actual storyline developing for the last few episodes. Either way things are building up for an inevitable finale of samurai action, bouncy boobs, and gratuitous panty shots. And yes, that is what we have all came here to see.
What insanity does Valvrave have in store for us this week? Well, first L-Elf is finally turned loose, which is actually awesome because L-Elf is the anime version of an 80’s style action star, complete with his ability to kill people with ANYTHING. Things get even better when a losing battle is turned around by blasting a massive hole in the side of the space station. Enjoy!
Taku can’t help but notice that Muromi’s gadgets seem to have some unusually advanced technology, and of course this is because she is friends with yet another being that spits in the face of reality. Muromi then decides to take her Yeti friend to visit this master of lost technology, while leaving Taku out of the loop for his own good. Big surprise, Muromi’s techie friend is fucking crazy… and an alien.
Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai.: Episode 9
(My Little Sister Can’t be this Cute 2, AKA: Oreimo 2)
Kuroneko has skipped town and transferred schools after a sudden and unexplained breakup with Kyousuke. Now Kyousuke realizes that he has gone from the role of a guy that helps everyone to a guy in desperate need of help, so he turns to his sister for help. Things get all dramatic and spoiler-y from here on out, so watch and find out the truth behind Kuroneko’s unusual plan.
Since recent events of this show have been really, really crazy, I’m going to be nice and not say much in case everyone hasn’t been brought up to speed. This week we find out what has happened to Eren, since we all have lots of questions about what fucking happened to Eren. As usual, I can’t wait to see what happens next week.
Ledo has finally begun his assault against the enemy he has fought his entire life, while the rest of the crew eagerly awaits the spoils of a lost civilization that the “whalesquids” are guarding. And then, BAM! Spoilers everywhere! Go ahead and watch, I promise this week’s episode makes up for all of the slow episodes as of late.
A fan favorite group of characters from the original source materials have made there animated debut, with explosive results. The group behind the Level-6 experiment has decided to hire a team of deadly, yet incredibly cute mercenaries known as ITEM to take out Misaka. This episode full of awesome action, and is probably one of the coolest episodes of the entire franchise. If you haven’t seen this week’s episode, GO WATCH IT NOW!
