Phish co-founder and drummer, Jon Fishman recently led the city of Burlington, VT, to attempt to break the world record for the world’s largest cowbell ensemble. Fishman and the rest of his band mates played the song “Time Has Come Today,” with the massive ensemble put together in Burlington’s Church Street. The event was put together to raise funds for flood relief from the damage caused by hurricane Irene.
The event had an estimated 1600 participants that had come to add “more cowbells” to the song. Officials from the Guinness Book of World Records are still tallying up all of the information to determine if the current world record has truly been broken during the event. The current world record for a cowbell ensemble is 640, set in Switzerland in September 2009.
